The apex Igbo socio-cultural group, Ohanaeze Ndigbo, has endorsed President Bola Ahmed Tinubu for re-election in 2027, stating that his administration has shown a strong commitment to the needs of the Southeast for the first time in 55 years.
In a statement by a faction’s Deputy National President, Mazi Okechukwu Isiguzoro, the group highlighted several projects as reasons for their support, including a ₦1.43 trillion allocation for federal roads and a $3 billion project to upgrade the Eastern Economic Corridor railway.
The statement noted that Tinubu has also established the Southeast Development Commission and the Southeast Investment Company to drive economic growth in the region.

The group affirmed that President Tinubu is “diligently addressing the critical challenges confronting the Southeast and the broader Igbo nation.”
The statement added that “There is a collective consensus to support his administration until 2031, with an emphatic endorsement for his re-election in 2027. This support comes with important demands to address the pressing needs of our region.”
Ohanaeze Ndigbo also condemned what it called “orchestrated media attacks” against Minister of Works, Senator Dave Umahi, by opposition elements in the region.
Isiguzoro stated, “For the first time in over five decades, the Federal Government is making substantial investments in our region. It is in the interest of Ndigbo to align with President Tinubu’s administration to harness these projects and transform the Southeast into the new economic hub of West Africa.”
He concluded by urging opposition parties to stop media hostilities, noting that “The emergence of fictitious groups allegedly sponsored to harass and intimidate him is misguided and counterproductive.”
