Passenger Who Assaulted Ibom Air Staff Sent To Kirikiri Prison

Comfort Emmanson, the passenger who assaulted an airline crew member on an Ibom Air flight, has been charged in court and remanded in the Kirikiri Correctional Centre in Lagos.

The legal development was confirmed on Monday by Tunde Moshood, Special Adviser to the Minister of Aviation, Festus Keyamo, in a post on his X handle.

Moshood wrote, “The more reason the flying public should be more careful, the unruly passenger on the Uyo–Lagos bound Ibom Air, Miss Comfort Emmanson, has been charged to court and she’s now cooling off in Kirikiri.”

Ibom Air stated that the incident began before take-off from Uyo, where Emmanson initially refused to switch off her phone as required by safety procedures.

After a fellow passenger switched off the phone for her, she began a “verbal tirade.”

The airline alleges that upon arrival in Lagos, Emmanson physically assaulted the Purser and even attempted to use a fire extinguisher as a weapon, an act the airline described as “an intention to damage and ground the aircraft.”

The airline, which has since banned her, also noted that her behavior posed a serious threat to the safety of everyone on board.
