The Minister of Aviation, Festus Keyamo, has justified the Federal Government’s decision to name Fuji star, Wasiu Ayinde Marshal (KWAM 1), an ambassador for airport security protocol.
His explanation, posted on his official X handle on Wednesday, came in response to public criticism that the move was a “double-standard” and “uncalled for.”
Keyamo explained that the ambassadorial role is a form of “Community Service” and is “not paid for, and it is a voluntary service.”

He wrote, “For further clarification, it is common practice all over the world that a repentant offender is made to preach publicly against the exact conduct from which he has repented.”
The minister clarified that in this context, the title of “Ambassador” does not come with the typical “perquisites of office.”
Keyamo also revealed that the Airline Operators of Nigeria (AON) are considering a similar role for Comfort Emmanson, who has also shown remorse.
He stated, “in my discussion last night with the Airline Operators of Nigeria (AON), they are also looking at the option of using Ms. Comfort Emmanson, who has also shown remorse, as their own Ambassador for good passenger conduct.”
Keyamo concluded that his ministry has been “fair to all the people concerned” in both incidents.
