By-Elections: Man Arrested With ₦25m Cash For Alleged Vote Buying In Kaduna

Security operatives in Kaduna State have arrested a suspect, Shehu Patangi, who was allegedly found with approximately ₦25 million intended for vote-buying ahead of today’s by-elections.

According to a statement from DSP Mansir Hassan, the spokesman for the Kaduna State Police Command, Patangi was arrested early Saturday morning at a hotel along Turunku Road in Kaduna metropolis.

The police stated that the recovered cash totaled ₦25,963,000. During preliminary interrogation, the suspect reportedly “confessed to the crime and pleaded for leniency.”

Kaduna State Commissioner of Police, Rabiu Muhammad, thanked other sister agencies for their collaboration.

He issued a strong warning that anyone, regardless of their status, who is found attempting to undermine the electoral process “will face the full wrath of the law.”

He assured residents that the police command is committed to providing maximum security and called on them to “go out and exercise their franchise peacefully and lawfully without fear or intimidation.”
