The President of the Nigerian Senate, Godswill Akpabio, has returned to Nigeria after what his office described as a “short vacation” in London.
He arrived at the Nnamdi Azikiwe International Airport in Abuja on Monday morning, received by senators and supporters.
His media office stated that his return “put an end to speculation that the Senate President was critically ill and admitted in a London hospital.”

The speculation about his health began after his trip to London following a parliamentary conference in Geneva.
Speaking to journalists upon his arrival, Akpabio promised “robust legislative engagements” for Nigerians when the Senate resumes.
He also defended the large Nigerian delegation at the Geneva conference, saying it was part of efforts to deepen democratic governance and improve collaboration with other governments.
Akpabio, a former governor of Akwa Ibom State, was elected President of the 10th Senate in June 2023.
