Nigeria’s Consul General In Cameroon Dies

The Ministry of Foreign Affairs has announced the “sudden demise” of Ambassador Taofik Obasanjo Coker, Nigeria’s Consul General in Buea, Republic of Cameroon, who passed away on Saturday, August 16, 2025, after a “brief illness.”

In a statement on Wednesday, the Ministry’s Spokesperson, Kimiebi Ebienfa, wrote, “The Ministry of Foreign Affairs announces, with deep sorrow, the sudden demise of Ambassador Taofik Obasanjo Coker, the Consul General of Nigeria in Buea, Republic of Cameroon, who unfortunately passed on after a brief illness on Saturday, 16th August 2025.”

The Ministry described Coker as a “dedicated and hardworking career diplomat who served Nigeria with distinction.”

His notable postings included Nigeria’s missions in Conakry, Guinea, and Shanghai, China.

The Ministry expressed deep condolences to his family, colleagues, and friends, considering his death a “significant loss” to both the diplomatic community and the nation.
