Veteran Nollywood actor, Fabian Adibe, famously known for his role in the television series, Things Fall Apart, has died at the age of 81.
Journalist and movie producer, Seun Oloketuyi, confirmed his death in a social media post on Wednesday, writing, “Things Fall Apart actor, Fabian Adibie, is dead. Died 2:30 am this morning.”
Adibe, who celebrated his 81st birthday in December 2024, reportedly died peacefully around 2:30 a.m. on Wednesday, August 20.
Before his acting career, he led Nigeria to its first Commonwealth Art Festival in 1965.
His acting career began in 1987 with the acclaimed adaptation of Chinua Achebe’s Things Fall Apart, where he portrayed the character Ogbuefi Uzowulu alongside Pete Edochie.
He was admired for his “calm demeanour and powerful performances,” which endeared him to generations of viewers.
