Comfort Emmanson Absent As NCAA Meets AVSEC, Ibom Air Cabin Crew

Ms. Comfort Emmanson, the passenger at the center of the recent Lagos Airport incident involving Ibom Air, did not attend a scheduled meeting with the Nigeria Civil Aviation Authority (NCAA) on Wednesday.

The meeting was part of the ongoing investigation into the August 10, 2025 incident aboard the flight from Uyo to Lagos.

While staff from Aviation Security (AVSEC), the Ibom Air cabin crew, and other relevant stakeholders were at the NCAA headquarters in Abuja for the meeting, Ms. Emmanson was not present.

According to a source, she missed the meeting because she wasn’t ready to deal with any flight issues at the moment.

The NCAA had also arranged for her to meet with them in Lagos to forestall any “drama that could happen at the airport for now.”

According to an anonymous source, “The meeting held and it was basically to hear their side of what actually happened. But Ms Emmanson did not come possibly because of the flight ban issues and airport drama. The interaction with her would be in Lagos. It’s part of a holistic investigation.”

Michael Achimugu, the NCAA’s Director of Public Affairs and Consumer Protection, had previously said on Tuesday that the Authority had spoken with Emmanson and invited all involved parties for a continued investigation.

Achimugu said, “I have spoken with Ms. Emmanson this morning (Tuesday). We are also inviting the Ibom Air cabin crew for continued investigation on the incident. They will be here tomorrow (Wednesday).”
