Tension broke out at the Nnamdi Azikiwe University (NAU) in Awka on Thursday as the institution moved to enforce its ban on the popular post-examination “signing off” tradition.
In a video shared by Facebook user Okwa C. Ifugo, two yet-to-be-identified female students were sent out of a campus building for wearing shirts that had been “scribbled with markers.”

The university management, in a directive signed by Registrar Dr. Chinenye Okeke on Tuesday, had announced an indefinite ban on the activity.
The circular stated that the practice often leads to “chaos, violence, and disruption of normal academic activities.”
