The former National Secretary of the All Progressives Congress (APC), Senator Iyiola Omisore, has officially declared his interest in the 2026 Osun State governorship race and has begun consultations with party stakeholders.
Omisore started his campaign in the Ijesa North and South Federal Constituencies, where he reiterated his vision for a prosperous Osun State that is not dependent on federal allocations.
He stressed his commitment to building consensus and said his final decision would be guided by feedback from the grassroots.

He stated, “This is not about ambition alone; it is about collective reasoning and strategy. Osun needs common sense now more than ever. We cannot afford to field a candidate who merely participates—we must present a candidate who can win.”
Former Commissioner for Education, Hon. Folorunso Bamisayemi, said Omisore played a decisive role as the APC national secretary, which helped avert an internal crisis and ensured the emergence of President Bola Ahmed Tinubu as the party’s 2023 presidential candidate.
Bamisayemi also noted that “Senator Omisore is based in Ife town, which is one of the four largest voting blocs in Osun,” and that he provided “financial and strategic support for the APC.”
The Chairman of Ilesa East Council, Hon. Olanrewaju Balogun, described Omisore’s ambition as a “unity agenda.”
