Nigerian chef and Guinness World Record holder, Hilda Baci, has announced her plan to cook what she described as the “largest pot of Jollof rice” in collaboration with seasoning brand Gino.
In an Instagram post on Friday, the chef revealed that the “historic cooking event” will take place on September 12, 2025.
The giant pot will measure “six metres wide” and “six metres tall.”
Baci wrote, “Almost two years ago I had the dream to cook the largest pot of Jollof Rice ever made. And now, with ginonaija and YOU, that dream is coming alive. Six meters wide. Six meters tall. September 12, we make history together. Because what is Jollof without you to share it with?”
In an accompanying video, Baci described the event as a “cultural celebration that goes beyond food.”
She referenced her 2023 Cook-a-thon that “took the world by storm,” saying, “Some dreams keep us awake until we make them reality.”
She called Jollof the “heartbeat of West Africa” and said, “It’s more than cooking. It’s a celebration of our food, our culture, music and us.”
She added that with the help of Gino, a brand “we all grew up with,” her dream of cooking the largest pot of Jollof rice is “becoming a reality.”
