Bauchi State Governor Bala Mohammed has defended the Peoples Democratic Party’s (PDP) decision to zone its 2027 presidential ticket to the South, describing it as a way “to strengthen unity and stability within the party.”
Speaking in an interview with AIT on Tuesday, Mohammed said that the decision was “an all-inclusive decision to sustain the zoning formula and to zone the presidential office to the South so we can have some sanity, understanding, and unity.”

He also confirmed his personal support for the decision, saying, “I am very satisfied with the resolution because I’m part and parcel of it — from the arrangement, strategy, and delivery.”
The governor urged Nigerians to prioritize national progress over personal ambition, stating, “Politics is not about self-interest.
It is about actualisation within the framework of party decisions and national progress.” He added, “Everything is predicated on sacrifice, not selfishness. We must live and let live, and remember that power comes from God.”
Mohammed assured that PDP governors, the National Working Committee, and the Board of Trustees are united in their efforts to reposition the party as a “stronger alternative for Nigerians in 2027.”
