Former Customs Comptroller-General, Ahmed Aliyu Mustapha Is Dead

Retired Comptroller-General of the Nigeria Customs Service, Dr. Ahmed Aliyu Mustapha, passed away.

He served in the position from 1999 to 2003.

His death was confirmed by the Governor of Adamawa State, Ahmadu Umaru Fintiri, who shared a statement on his social media pages.

Governor Fintiri expressed his sadness, describing Mustapha as a “man of service, dignity & duty” and extended his condolences to the “Musdafa royal family” and the “Lamido Adamawa,” to whom Mustapha was an elder brother.

Mustapha held the traditional title of “Sardauna Adamawa.”

He joined the Nigeria Customs Service as a cadet and rose to become the Comptroller-General in 1999.

During his “tenure,” he was known for strengthening “anti-smuggling operations” and combating “economic sabotage.”

He received the “Ministerial Award for Outstanding Performance” in 1988 and retired in December 2003 after “more than three decades of active duty.”

In retirement, he remained a respected figure, with his “counsel and influence” sought within the Customs community and the “Adamawa Emirate” until his death.
