What Peter Obi Should Do If He Doesn’t Want To Be Criticised – Deji Adeyanju

Rights activist and political commentator, Deji Adeyanju, has once again expressed his criticism of former Labour Party presidential candidate, Peter Obi, stating that he would “vote for President Bola Ahmed Tinubu in the coming elections over Obi.”

Adeyanju made this statement while reacting to Obi’s defamation lawsuit threat against him on Channels Television.

Responding to the defamation threat, Adeyanju said, “If the opposition presents Peter Obi, I will vote for Tinubu.”

He clarified his position further by saying, “God forbid that I support APC. If the opposition presents Peter Obi, I will vote for Tinubu. We cannot have a situation where a man who leads a mob that terrorises people online, who cannot tolerate criticism, who calls anybody who does not support their candidate an enemy of Nigeria, or has been paid and compromised.”

Adeyanju also questioned Obi’s political and democratic credentials, asking, “Has Peter Obi criticised this government the way I have criticised them? Does Peter Obi even know what democracy is? What sacrifices has he made for democracy?”

Adeyanju contrasted this with his own history, stating, “We have put our lives on the line for this country, for the preservation of democracy at personal expense of prosecution. What kind of charges have I not faced? At a time I was charged for terrorism. What does he know about democracy or preservation of democracy?”

He also berated the “Obidient Movement,” saying they “draw the line when their candidate is involved.”

Adeyanju insisted that public officials must be open to criticism and scrutiny.

He said, “If Peter does not want to be criticised, he should go back to his house and eat jollof rice. Anyone who puts themselves in public office must be criticised, scrutinised, and insulted.”

He criticized the “mentality” that allows supporters to attack politicians like Tinubu and Atiku but protect their own candidate.

He stated, “It is his mentality that his aides and his Obidient mob have that their candidate cannot be criticised, but Tinubu can be called a druglord, Atiku a looter, but their candidate cannot be criticised. Supreme Court judges can be named and shamed. Court of Appeal judges can be intimidated and criticised.”
