The family of Ruth Otabor, the sister of Big Brother Naija Season 7 winner Phyna, has announced her death.
In a statement on Sunday, August 31, 2025, Eko Solicitors & Advocates announced that Ruth “passed on to glory” at about 6:30 a.m.
The announcement of Ruth’s passing came just weeks after she was involved in a “tragic accident” where she was reportedly hit by a truck linked to the Dangote Group near Auchi Polytechnic.
The accident, which occurred on Wednesday, August 13, resulted in the amputation of her leg.
The family’s statement confirmed her death with “a heavy heart” and read, “The family is presently grieving and will appreciate to be given a private moment to mourn the departed.”
The family also added, “The funeral arrangement will be communicated to the public in due course.”
Her death has left the family and fans in mourning, as it occurred only six days after she graduated from Auchi Polytechnic.
