Court Orders DNA Test On Late Mohbad’s Son

A Magistrate Court in Ikorodu on Tuesday ordered that Deoxyribonucleic Acid (DNA) tests be conducted on Liam Aloba, the son of the late Nigerian singer, Ilerioluwa Aloba, widely known as Mohbad.

The tests are to be carried out at an “accredited and recognised hospital” both in Nigeria and abroad.

Magistrate Adefisoye Sonuga granted the order following an application filed by Mohbad’s father, Joseph Aloba.

The singer’s wife, Omowunmi Cynthia Aloba, was the respondent in the case.

In his application, Joseph Aloba requested a court order to have tissue or a hair sample removed from the deceased’s body for the DNA test, citing “uncertainty regarding the paternity” of the child.

He insisted that it is “imperative that the paternity be conclusively settled” because “paternity is a live issue” in determining the child’s welfare and the mother’s maintenance obligations.

With “no opposition” from the respondent’s counsel, the court granted the order as requested and adjourned “further proceedings” to November 11, 2025.
