Ex-Minister Sirika Reveals Position On Coalition Against Tinubu’s Re-Election

Former Aviation Minister Hadi Sirika has “distanced himself” from the opposition coalition against the re-election of President Bola Tinubu in 2027.

Sirika, who served as a minister under former President Muhammadu Buhari, made the denial during an interview on “Channels Television’s Morning Brief.”

When asked about reports suggesting he had joined the coalition, he stated, “No I am not.”

The former minister confirmed that he visited the Presidential Villa on Tuesday and spoke with presidential spokesman Bayo Onanuga, who had heard reports of his involvement in the opposition.

Sirika said, “I told him I was not and never will be.”

He explained that the purpose of his visit was to “officially pay our condolences to the President who did extremely well after the demise of our leader, President Muhammadu Buhari.”

The coalition, championed by former Vice President Atiku Abubakar, has adopted the African Democratic Congress (ADC) as its platform for the 2027 general elections.

When asked if his visit was for a “soft landing” regarding his ongoing trial, Sirika declined to comment, stating that the case is “pending in court” and that it would be “prejudice” for him to speak on the matter.

The Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) has accused him of awarding multi-billion naira contracts to his family members.

The EFCC alleges that a company controlled by his daughter and son-in-law received N1.3 billion for an unexecuted contract.

Sirika said, “I am a very clean man. I have worked with people. The government has every instrument at their disposal to find my character.”
