Dangote Group Speaks On Enugu Accident

Dangote Industries Limited has denied ownership of a truck involved in a fatal accident in Enugu on Wednesday, stating that the vehicle was “operated by a third party.”

The crash, which occurred around 9 a.m., involved a Howo truck and a Toyota Corolla.

Reports online had linked the truck to the Dangote Group due to its “brand signature.”

In a statement, the company denied the claim and said it was “engaging with the appropriate agencies to find out why the truck was carrying our logo when it is not part of our fleet.”

The company said it would apply “tighter measures” to prevent the “unauthorised use of our brand identity.”

The company noted that it was “compelled by misinformation” to issue the statement, calling on the “public and the media to avoid spreading unverified claims.”

It also pledged to be “cooperating fully with the relevant authorities” handling the matter and insisted that “investigations should be allowed to run their course without interference.”

The statement concluded, “We strongly reject attempts to exploit tragedies like this for malicious or financial gain.”
