Veteran Nollywood actress Joke Silva is mourning the death of her elder brother, John Olabiyi Silva, who died at the age of 72 on August 29, 2025.
Silva confirmed the news on her Instagram page on Thursday, where she paid tribute to him.
Silva wrote, “With acceptance of God’s Sovereign will, we announce the call to the glory of my dear brother, John Olabiyi Silva …long John Silva…Bros B…Uncle B…. my easy go lucky brother. Rest in peace. January 22nd 1953-August 29th, 2025.”
His death comes at a difficult time for the actress, who has been caring for her husband, Olu Jacobs, as he has been “battling dementia.”
Following the announcement, Silva received an outpouring of “condolence messages” from colleagues and fans.
