Natasha’s Counsel Reacts As Senate Declines Her Request To Resume Legislative Duties After Completing Six-Month Suspension

Senator Natasha Akpoti-Uduaghan’s counsel, Victor Giwa, has accused Senate President Godswill Akpabio of a “vendetta” against the “embattled senator.”

During an interview on Channels TV’s Politics Today on Tuesday, Giwa said Akpabio is using his office to “punish” the senator representing Kogi Central.

This follows the Senate’s recent rejection of Akpoti-Uduaghan’s request to resume legislative duties after her “6-month suspension” expired.

Giwa described the situation as “double jeopardy,” comparing it to “asking an inmate to serve once more after completing his jail term.”

He was highly critical of the Senate’s reasoning, saying, “This is a kind of witchcraft logic the Senate is putting forward. It doesn’t make sense. Even law student will know better.”

He went on to state, “The institution of the Senate to be dessicated in this manner for Akpabio to use the office of the Senate president to pursue what is now a personal vendetta.”

Giwa also questioned, “It brings a question to whether really there is veracity in what Natasha said. Why Akpabio will not allow time and history to vindicate him? After this woman has served her punishment, you are still saying she can’t resume her function.”
