Court Refuses To Stop Mark, Aregbesola From Assuming ADC Leadership [PHOTOS]

The Federal High Court in Abuja has rejected an “application seeking an interim order” to stop the David Mark-led leadership of the African Democratic Congress (ADC).

The “trial judge,” Emeka Nwite, refused the three prayers sought in the “ex-parte motion” filed by Nafiu-Bala Gombe, a former Deputy National Chairman of the ADC.

Instead, the judge directed Gombe, the “plaintiff,” to put all the “defendants” on notice to “show cause” why the motion should not be granted, and the matter was adjourned to September 15 for the defendants to “show cause.”

A “certified true copy” of the order was made available on Thursday.

In the “suit marked: FHC/ABJ/CS/1819/2025,” Gombe had sought a series of “interim injunctions” to restrain INEC from recognizing Mark and Rauf Aregbesola as the national chairman and national secretary of the ADC, and also to stop them from parading themselves as such, pending the hearing in the “motion on notice.”

The Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) has since recognized Mark and Aregbesola as the national chairman and national secretary, respectively, also listing other officials like Mani Ibrahim as the national treasurer, Akibu Dalhatu as the national financial secretary, and Oserheimen Osunbor as the national legal adviser.
