Kano Government Declares Friday Public Holiday To Mark Maulud Celebration

The Kano State Government has declared “Friday, September 12” as a public holiday to mark the birth of the Holy Prophet Muhammad, PBUH.

The holiday corresponds to the “Maulud celebration,” which falls on “19th Rabi’ul Awwal 1447 AH.”

This was contained in a statement issued on Thursday by Ibrahim Abdullahi Waiya, the Commissioner for Information and Internal Affairs.

Mr. Waiya called on “civil servants, private sector members, and the general public to observe the holiday peacefully and in accordance with the Prophet’s teachings.”

He encouraged citizens to reflect on “unity, tolerance, and obedience” and urged “prayers for peace and progress.”

The government also extended “warm felicitations, wishing citizens a peaceful Maulud celebration.”
