Dele Momodu, a two-term Presidential aspirant and Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) chieftain, has raised the alarm over a scam involving impersonators posing as Nigerian politician Senator Natasha Akpoti-Uduaghan, urging the public to “exercise caution.”
In a tweet shared on Sunday, Momodu disclosed that he was recently targeted by the same scam that had previously attempted to deceive media commentator Japheth Omojuwa.
Momodu recounted his experience:“Same nuisance called me, I immediately blocked the number, and called Senator Natasha on a familiar line to tell her some scammers were on the prowl… Lord have mercy…” Momodu wrote.

Reports indicate that the scam involves individuals contacting “prominent Nigerians,” falsely claiming to be Senator Akpoti and extending invitations to a Zoom conference.
The impersonators then ask the targets to share access codes or other personal information, which they use to defraud unsuspecting victims.
Omojuwa, who is popularly known as JJ Omojuwa, flagged the scam on Saturday, explaining that the impersonator’s desperation made it obvious she was not the senator.
He elaborated on the attempt:“It was obvious from the person’s desperation to have me send the code over. But I see how this could have worked for other people.”
“There were other people in the background coaching her on what to reply to me as I dragged the conversation along,” he said.
Akpoti-Uduaghan, who represents the Kogi Federal Constituency in the Nigerian Senate, is known for her political advocacy and public service, having risen to prominence as a lawyer and politician championing issues such as social justice, youth empowerment, and women’s rights.
