Nigerian celebrity chef Hilda Baci has “officially received her second Guinness World Record plaque,” which recognizes her achievement of cooking the “world’s largest pot of jollof rice.”
The record, which has been verified by Guinness World Records, confirms that Baci prepared “8,780 kilograms (19,356 pounds) of jollof rice” during a large-scale picnic held in Lagos in September.
This recent accomplishment follows just over a year after Baci gained international attention in May 2023 for completing a “93-hour, 11-minute cooking marathon,” which secured her first Guinness World Record.
The 29-year-old chef is now the “first and most awarded chef in Nigeria to have two Guinness World Records.”
Hilda Baci shared pictures of her new plaque on Instagram and commented on the purposeful and resilient nature of her journey.
She wrote: “Two records.” Two plaques. One tale of history, faith, and fire. We made history for Nigeria twice,” adding that the achievement “highlights Nigeria’s creativity and culinary influence globally.”
Baci urged her followers to trust in their purpose and timing, citing Isaiah 61:7 to support her claim that her experience represented the promise of receiving “a double portion instead of shame.”
The jollof rice picnic drew an attendance of “Over 20,000 people,” including celebrities and influencers.
In line with Guinness verification guidelines, “All servings were given to participants and charitable organizations.”
