Ahead of the November 8, 2025, Anambra State governorship election, Governor Prof. Chukwuma Soludo has declared Friday, November 7, 2025, as a work-free day for all civil and public servants in the state.
According to a statement released on Thursday by the Head of Service, Theodore Igwegbe, the governor approved the work-free day to enable workers to travel to their respective communities and take part in the election.
Igwegbe explained that the state government considers the active involvement of its workforce in the electoral process a civic duty and an essential contribution to good governance and democratic growth in Anambra State.
The statement read in part:“The Anambra State Government has approved Friday, November 7, 2025, as a work-free day for all civil and public servants in the state.
This is to give workers sufficient time to travel to their various locations and participate in the governorship election scheduled for Saturday, November 8, 2025.
The government views the participation of its workforce in the election as a civic responsibility and a crucial input to the sustenance of democracy and good governance in the state.
Consequently, all political appointees, permanent secretaries, and heads of ministries, departments, and agencies are directed to inform their staff and ensure full compliance.”
