The draw for the expanded 2026 FIFA World Cup, featuring 48 teams, was conducted in Washington on Friday, determining the group stage matchups for the tournament.
The reigning champions, Argentina, were placed in Group J, where they will face Algeria, Austria, and first-time qualifiers Jordan.
Five-time winners, Brazil, landed in Group C and will contend with 2022 semi-finalists Morocco, as well as Scotland and Haiti.
France was drawn into Group I and will compete against Senegal, Norway, and a qualifier from the inter-confederation playoffs.
The draw also confirmed the opening match of the tournament: South Africa will play co-hosts Mexico in the kickoff game, a repeat of the 2010 World Cup opener.
