The Minister of the Federal Capital Territory (FCT), Nyesom Wike, has rejected social media reports that alleged he was arrested in France.
He described the circulation of these reports as politically motivated distractions aimed at derailing his work.
Speaking during an inspection of the ongoing Gwarimpa Interchange project, Wike stated that the rumour was fabricated by critics who are uncomfortable with the progress his administration is recording.

He pointed out that while the false reports were being widely shared, he was actively on-site inspecting projects at the Kubwa/Bwari axis.
Wike advised that public office holders should remain focused, asserting: “People will like to distract you, but once you are focused, you won’t be perturbed. Critics will always try to play politics.”
He added a strong endorsement of his performance: “As far as your boss, the President, is happy with what you are doing, you remain focused and deliver on your mandate.”
The Minister stressed that propaganda would eventually cease to be effective, noting that the public would grow weary of repeated falsehoods.
He concluded by urging those in public office not to be “swayed by attempts to divert attention from service delivery.
