Ra’ad Sa’ad, the head of the Weapons Production Headquarters of Hamas’ military wing, has been eliminated, marking a significant blow to the group’s operational leadership in the Gaza Strip.
Sa’ad was regarded as one of the last remaining veteran senior militants within Hamas and a close associate of Marwan Issa, the deputy head of the organisation’s military wing.
Over the years, he held several high-ranking positions and was considered a central figure in shaping Hamas’ military strategy and capabilities.
He was identified as one of the key architects of the October 7 attack, which resulted in widespread casualties and escalated the ongoing conflict.
The IDF announced the elimination on Dec 13, 2025.
During the war, Sa’ad was directly linked to the deaths of numerous soldiers through explosive devices produced by Hamas’ weapons manufacturing units under his supervision.
In recent months, Sa’ad reportedly played a leading role in the operations of Hamas’ military wing, including direct involvement in actions that violated the ceasefire agreement.
He was also said to have overseen the continued production of weapons in the Gaza Strip during the ceasefire period, maintaining the group’s military readiness despite diplomatic efforts to reduce hostilities.
His elimination is expected to have a significant impact on Hamas’ weapons production and military coordination, given his long-standing influence and experience within the organisation’s armed structure.
