Placed in Group C with Tunisia, Tanzania, and Uganda, Nigeria enters the tournament in Morocco as one of the top contenders to secure the trophy.
The three-time champions are looking to redeem themselves after the previous edition, where they were “agonisingly close to adding to their tally.”
During that final, Nigeria ultimately “lost 2-1 to hosts Cote d’Ivoire” despite having the initial advantage.
Now in Morocco, the Super Eagles’ objective is to “go one more step further and conquer the continent in the Maghreb.”
Their campaign begins at the Fez Stadium against the Taifa Stars of Tanzania on December 23.
This will be followed by a high-stakes encounter three days later, described as a “battle of the eagles when the Super Eagles play with the Carthage Eagles of Tunisia,” a long-standing North African rival.
The opening stage concludes on December 30, when Nigeria will “square off against the Cranes of Uganda.”
Under the tournament rules, the “top two teams from the lot will automatically reach the round of 16,” with an additional four slots available for the “best third-placed countries.”
