The two victims of the tragic road accident involving Anthony Joshua on the Lagos-Ibadan Expressway have been identified as his longtime friends and core team members, Sina Ghami and Latif “Latz” Ayodele.
Matchroom Boxing, the promoter for the world-renowned boxer, released a formal statement confirming the devastating news and providing an update on Joshua’s health.
“With profound sadness, it has been confirmed that two close friends and team members Sina Ghami and Latif Ayodele have tragically passed away,” Matchroom Boxing said.

The statement further explained that the former heavyweight champion is currently hospitalized but out of immediate danger.
“Matchroom Boxing and 258 BXG can confirm that Anthony sustained injuries in the accident and was taken to hospital for checks and treatment. He is in a stable condition and will remain there for observation,” the company added.
BBC reports confirmed that both men were central figures in Joshua’s “inner circle.” Heartbreakingly, just hours before the collision, Joshua had shared a video on his Instagram story showing him and Latif Ayodele enjoying a game of table tennis.
Who were they?
Sina Ghami Sina Ghami served as Joshua’s strength and conditioning coach for over a decade and was a co-founder of Evolve Gym in London.
As a qualified sports and exercise rehabilitator, he specialized in musculoskeletal injuries and corrective exercise.
His expertise extended beyond boxing, as he had previously worked with athletes in the NFL, NBA, and the Michigan State University football team.
According to the BBC, he frequently shared photos with Joshua and had posted from Lagos shortly before the crash.
Latif “Latz” Ayodele Latif Ayodele, better known as Latz, was Joshua’s personal trainer and a pillar of his camp.
His social media presence highlighted a deep commitment to his Islamic faith and a passion for fitness.
He was a constant presence in Joshua’s professional and personal life, often appearing in photos with the boxer, including those taken just before the fatal incident.
