The Governor’s decision was detailed in a resignation letter dated December 30, 2025, which was directed to the PDP Ward Chairman in Ampang West Ward, located in the Mangu Local Government Area.

Mutfwang, who secured his governorship in 2023 under the PDP banner, expressed gratitude to the party for the opportunity to serve and for the support he received from its leadership across various levels.

However, explaining his departure, the Governor stated:“Given the realities of the moment and guided by my commitment to purposeful leadership, clarity of direction and service delivery, I’m compelled to seek an alternative political platform.”

While the Governor confirmed his exit from the party that brought him to power, he did not explicitly name his next political destination.
