The Lagos State Police Command has launched a formal investigation into Chris Okafor, the senior pastor of Mountain of Liberation and Miracles Ministries, following a wave of sexual misconduct allegations that gained traction online.
Commissioner of Police CP Olohundare Jimoh directed the State Criminal Investigation Department (SCID), Panti, to lead the probe. The order includes summoning the cleric for questioning and inviting witnesses and potential victims to share their accounts.
Lagos Police Public Relations Officer Abimbola Adebisi confirmed the move, noting that the police are acting proactively despite the lack of a formal complaint.
“The CP has directed the SCID to invite the pastor for investigation, despite the fact that no one has formally come forward to report,” Adebisi stated.
The investigation follows a public outcry sparked by actress Doris Ogala, who used social media to detail a nine-year relationship with the pastor starting in 2017.
In videos posted on December 14, 2025, she accused him of broken marriage promises, sharing explicit photos, and causing the collapse of her former marriage.
The controversy deepened as other women, including the cleric’s former wife, Bessem Okafor, surfaced with claims of manipulation, infidelity, and physical assault.
To ensure a thorough investigation, the police have reached out to media figures who have spoken with the accusers.
“Adebisi said she personally contacted a YouTuber who had interviewed alleged victims to obtain direct links to witnesses to facilitate the investigation.”

Amidst the scandal, Pastor Okafor recently made a public display of repentance during a church service. He knelt on the pulpit, admitting to past “mistakes” and asking for forgiveness.
This took place shortly after his marriage to a new bride, Pearl, on December 16, 2025.
While many in the public are calling for accountability, his followers have largely remained loyal.
“Several members of the Mountain of Liberation church have defended the pastor, describing the claims as attempts to extort money from Okafor.”
The Lagos SCID is expected to provide updates as the cleric is interrogated and statements are gathered.
