Following Nigeria’s 4-0 triumph over Mozambique in the 2025 Africa Cup of Nations round of 16, Super Eagles forward Akor Adams has officially departed the team’s camp.
The news was confirmed via a social media update on the Super Eagles’ official X account, stating that the Sevilla striker was given leave to attend to a family emergency involving his mother.
“Akor Adams has been granted permission to leave camp to go be with his mum, who was hospitalised yesterday. We’re sending prayers and strength to him and wishing his mum a quick recovery,” the statement read.
Remarkably, Adams received the news of his mother’s hospitalization prior to the match against the Mambas but chose to play, eventually scoring the final goal of the evening.
At this time, it is unclear if Adams will rejoin the squad before their quarter-final fixture against Algeria, which is scheduled for this Saturday.
