On Saturday, people living in Ekpoma, the central town of the Esan West Local Government Area in Edo State, took to the streets to protest the frequent kidnappings occurring in the area.
The community has recently dealt with a series of kidnappings where people were seized directly from their residences, leading to widespread anxiety and resentment.

The demonstration brought business to a standstill and saw participation from students of Ambrose Alli University, Ekpoma.
As the situation escalated, the angry demonstrators tore down several campaign billboards that had been erected across the university town in anticipation of the 2027 general elections.
