A State High Court in Ota, Ogun State, has denied bail to the controversial singer Habeeb Okikiola, famously known as Portable, during his arraignment on a nine-count criminal charge.
The charges include assault, theft, causing bodily harm, and resisting arrest.
The presiding judge refused the bail application, specifically noting the absence of the police officer who was allegedly assaulted.
The judge insisted on the officer’s presence before a decision could be made.
As a result, Portable has been remanded in custody, with a new hearing for the bail application set for January 19, 2026.

According to the Ogun State Police Command spokesperson, Oluseyi Babaseyi, the legal action followed a complaint by the singer’s former partner, Ashabi Simple.
The charges stem from an incident on New Year’s Day at Portable’s bar in the Iyana Ilogbo area, where the prosecution claims the singer attacked Ashabi, several police officers, and other bystanders.
Specific allegations against the singer include:

Assault on Police: The police allege Portable obstructed and attacked a female inspector, Ogungbe Olayemi, while she was on official duty.

Vehicle Theft: He is accused of stealing a Mercedes-Benz E300 worth ₦12 million, reportedly belonging to a complainant named Ileyemi Damilola.

Witness Testimony: During the proceedings, two of Ashabi Simple’s siblings testified about the alleged assault, though Ashabi herself did not appear in court.
Earlier, a viral video surfaced showing Portable in police custody, shirtless and in tears.
The police have since announced an internal investigation into the video to address concerns regarding the treatment of the singer while in detention.
