The Ogun State Police Command has confirmed that a TikTok content creator known as Mirabel is currently receiving treatment in an intensive care unit (ICU) as authorities investigate her viral allegations of sexual assault.
During an appearance on Channels Television’s The Morning Brief on Thursday, February 19, 2026, the Command’s Public Relations Officer, Oluseyi Babaseyi, explained that police located the victim in the Ibafo area before determining the crime occurred in Ogijo.
Babaseyi noted that while she was mobile enough to meet officers initially, her health quickly declined.
“When the DPO in Ibafo met with her, she was taken to the hospital for medical analysis. She wasn’t as stable as necessary, but we ensured the investigation continued,” he stated.
Updating the public on her current status, the spokesperson added, “As we speak, she is in the intensive care unit getting appropriate care. Her medical well-being is more important to us at this point. When she is stable, we can now continue investigations and get the necessary facts.”
The case gained national attention after Mirabel posted videos on Sunday alleging that an intruder broke into her home, physically and sexually assaulted her, and forced her to consume a poisonous substance.
Despite social media skepticism regarding the authenticity of her story, Babaseyi cautioned against such narratives, saying, “We advise people not to jump to conclusions based on emotions. We are investigating and will rely on evidence to reach a logical conclusion.”
The police also addressed rumors regarding the victim’s status, clarifying that she is being treated as a complainant, not a suspect.
“She was not arrested by the police. She reported a case, and we are investigating. Nothing like her arrest happened,” Babaseyi confirmed.
He warned that while the law will deal with the perpetrator if the claims are proven, it also “addresses giving false information” if the allegations are found to be untrue.
Investigations are ongoing, and the police have issued invitations to several individuals for questioning.
The case was transferred to the Ogun State Command after the Lagos State Domestic and Sexual Violence Agency determined the incident fell outside their jurisdiction
