FCT Minister Nyesom Wike has expressed his faction’s readiness to pursue reconciliation within the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP).
Speaking at the 106th NEC meeting of the Mohammed Abdulrahman-led faction in Abuja, the former Rivers State governor set specific conditions for a lasting peace, insisting that the Tanimu Turaki-led group must meet with his own side to draft a formal agreement.
Wike clarified that any potential deal must exclude the postponement of the planned PDP convention scheduled for March 29th and 30th, as well as the creation of a new caretaker committee.

He urged for formal, team-based negotiations, stating, “Don’t reach out to me personally; if you want reconciliation, let the other team come, while our team will come as well.”
Reflecting on previous mediation attempts, he added, “When you are coming for reconciliation, come with your proposal and terms. That is how you people used me the last time; I will not allow a repeat of it. I don’t want anyone who will try to use me to launch an attack.”
The minister also remarked on the PDP’s recent struggles, suggesting that the party would not have performed poorly in the just-concluded FCT Area Council election if it were in order. Regarding the recent Court of Appeal ruling, Wike claimed the party is gaining momentum and asserted that those who believe the PDP will lack candidates at the state level “are only deceiving themselves.”
This comes after the appellate court, led by Justice Mohammed Danjuma, affirmed that the processes leading to the Ibadan convention “violated the Electoral Act, the Constitution of Nigeria, and the party’s constitution.”
The court concluded that the convention “was not conducted in compliance with the law,” ultimately nullifying its results.
