The El-Rufai family has announced the passing of Aunty Safiya Ali Rufai, the sister-in-law of former Kaduna State Governor Nasir El-Rufai, who died on Sallah Day.
The news was shared by Hon. Mohammed Bello El-Rufai, the son of the former governor, who paid tribute to her as a “fierce, disciplined, devout, and compassionate woman.”
He called on the public to offer prayers for her soul, stating, “She will be dearly missed. May Allah SWT bless the souls of all our loved ones.”
He concluded his tribute with the prayer, “Allah ya kara mana hakuri.”
Aunty Safiya was the widow of the late Air Vice Marshal Ali Rufai, who was the elder brother of Nasir El-Rufai and the patriarch of the family.
She was well-known as a strict disciplinarian and a maternal figure to many relatives.
In his announcement, Bello El-Rufai also noted the loss of her two daughters, Yaya Zainabu and Yaya Farida, who died several years ago, and asked for continued prayers for all the family’s departed members.
