APC Governor Sule Opens Up On Alleged Meeting With Atiku In Saudi Arabia, Pledging Financial Support For 2027 Campaign To Unseat Tinubu

The Nasarawa State Government has officially dismissed recent media claims that Governor Abdullahi Sule held a secret meeting with former Vice President Atiku Abubakar while in Saudi Arabia for the lesser Hajj.

Reports had suggested that during his trip to Mecca, the governor allegedly met with Atiku and pledged financial support for a campaign to unseat President Bola Ahmed Tinubu in the 2027 election.

However, in a statement released on Friday, March 27, 2026, the Governor’s Chief Press Secretary, Ibrahim Addra, categorized these allegations as “a complete fabrication, false in its entirety, and did not happen.”

The official statement clarified that the governor’s trip was strictly for personal religious devotion and that “the Governor did not hold any meeting with Atiku or his associates during the spiritual exercise.”

Furthermore, the government emphasized that Governor Sule remains a staunch supporter of the current administration, noting that he has consistently used various platforms to praise President Tinubu’s leadership.

The statement warned that the false reports were likely the work of political saboteurs trying to damage the relationship between the President and the Governor, though it expressed confidence that such attempts would fail.

Adding weight to the denial, Atiku’s spokesperson, Paul Ibe, also reportedly stated that he was completely unaware of any such meeting taking place.

The Nasarawa State Government concluded by reaffirming the loyalty of APC governors to the President, insisting that “no false report could affect their loyalty to him.”
