The Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) faction led by Kabiru Tanimu Turaki has officially rejected the outcome of the party’s national convention held in Abuja this past Sunday.
The Turaki-led group harshly criticized the event, labeling the gathering as a “pre-Easter jamboree of APC sympathisers and members of Wike’s Autocratic Party”.
Comrade Ini Ememobong, the spokesperson for the Turaki faction, noted that dedicated PDP members nationwide are deeply troubled by the current state of affairs.
He emphasized that the leadership crisis is now headed for a legal resolution, stating, “We reassure that we have taken this battle to the Supreme Court for the determination of all the issues relating to the leadership of our party, particularly as it relates to what constitutes an internal affair.”

The PDP remains split into two distinct camps: the Turaki faction, which enjoys the support of the PDP Governors, and the Abdulrahman Muhammed faction, which is loyal to the Minister of the Federal Capital Territory, Nyesom Wike.
This division stems from a November convention in Ibadan that produced Turaki’s leadership—a move the Wike camp ignored, leading them to form a 13-member National Caretaker Working Committee in December to oversee the party until the recent weekend convention.
Ememobong argued that the Abuja convention was conducted in defiance of judicial proceedings, asserting that it was held in contempt of the Court of Appeal after parties had already agreed on how to move forward legally.
He remarked, “The validity of that gathering is now a matter before the court, which we will diligently follow to its conclusion.”
Furthermore, he alleged that the governing party is orchestrating these internal crises out of fear of “the impending rejection Nigerians are waiting to serve them because of their abysmal performance.”
