Lagos lawmaker and Nollywood actor, Desmond Elliot, has issued a public apology to his political mentor and the Chief of Staff to the President, Femi Gbajabiamila, admitting he may have caused offense during his political dealings.
Appearing on TVC’s Your View on Friday, Elliot addressed the friction that arose during the Lagos State House of Assembly leadership crisis.
This tension previously led Gbajabiamila to reveal that he nearly lost his position at the Presidency after President Bola Tinubu confronted him with reports linking Elliot to certain political moves.
Speaking on the program, Elliot emphasized his long-standing relationship with the Chief of Staff, whom he described as his senior colleague and “egbon.”

He acknowledged that misunderstandings are part of political life, stating:
“I’m not saying, oh, yes, media will come out, oh yes, Desmond begs again. Yes, because he’s my egbon. And I grew up learning everything I knew in politics through him,” he said.
He further appealed for forgiveness, noting that human errors are inevitable in such relationships:“To err is human, to forgive is divine. So I’m sorry, my daddy, if I’ve offended you in any way,” he stated.
Beyond Gbajabiamila, the lawmaker also reached out to an influential local figure, saying:“To the matriarch of Surulere, mama, I’m sorry if I’ve offended you,” he said.
Despite the public apology, Elliot insisted that his primary focus remains on his legislative duties and the unity of the All Progressives Congress (APC).
He pointed to his record of service as proof of his dedication to his constituents:“But I will keep keeping the party strong. And to all Surulerians, my scorecard is there. You know the things I’ve done to make Surulere a better place,” he added.
The apology marks a significant step following the leadership tussles within the Lagos Assembly, which had previously required high-level interventions to resolve internal party disputes.
