Tinubu Renames Kaduna University After General Yar’Adua

President Bola Ahmed Tinubu announced on Friday, June 12, during his Democracy Day speech that the Institute of Petroleum Studies in Kaduna has been renamed to honour the late General Shehu Musa Yar’Adua.

This decision serves to acknowledge Yar’Adua’s significant influence in shaping Nigeria’s modern democracy and his commitment to fostering national unity.

The institution, which is now completed, will be officially designated as the General Shehu Musa Yar’Adua University of Geological Sciences and Engineering Technology.

During his address, President Tinubu stated, “Among the architects of modern democratic Nigeria, we honour General Shehu Musa Yar’Adua for his vision of national partnership. In recognition of his contributions, the Federal Government has approved the revitalisation and renaming of the completed Institute of Petroleum Studies, Kaduna, as the General Shehu Musa Yar’Adua University of Geological Sciences and Engineering Technology.”

The President emphasized that this tribute commemorates the late military officer and politician’s vital role as one of the key figures in the country’s democratic movement and his advocacy for democratic principles.
