BREAKING: Nigerian Governor Declares Friday Work-Free

Ahead of the October 5 local government elections in Benue State, Governor Hyacinth Alia has declared Friday, October 4, a work-free day.

In a statement issued by his Chief Press Secretary, Tersoo Kula, and made available to the News Agency of Nigeria in Makurdi on Thursday, the governor explained that the work-free day was intended to allow voters to travel to their respective local government areas to participate in the election.

Governor Alia stressed the importance of “active participation in the electoral process” and encouraged citizens to use the opportunity to fulfill their civic responsibilities.

Expressing confidence in a smooth and fair election, Alia called on public and private sector organizations to support the initiative by allowing their employees to take part.

He also urged the public to prioritize peaceful conduct and cooperation during the elections, emphasizing the need for unity and collaboration among all stakeholders.
