The newly constructed council secretariat in Isiokpo, Ikwerre Local Government Area, has been set on fire.
A local resident confirmed the incident on Monday, as videos circulating on social media show the administrative building ablaze.
Police authorities have not yet commented on the situation, and the extent of the damage remains unclear.

This fire follows the recent withdrawal of police officers securing the 23 council secretariats by the commissioner of police.
Earlier, sections of the Eleme council secretariat also caught fire.
Former ambassador Oji Ngofa, a resident of Eleme, told Channels Television that the newly elected chairman, Brain Gokpa, arrived at the secretariat with his councilors and supporters, only to find that several buildings had already been set ablaze.
The new chairman and his supporters have vowed to take control of the secretariat, regardless of the circumstances.
In Emohua council, unknown individuals have blocked the entrance to the secretariat, preventing the new chairman, David Omereju, from resuming. A video on social media shows them chanting, “No Wike, No Rivers State!”
As of now, no arrests have been made, and the police have yet to issue a statement regarding the situation. There is growing concern about a potential outbreak of violence in some councils across the state.
This incident adds to the tensions that have arisen since Governor Siminalayi Fubara swore in the new chairmen in Rivers State on Sunday.
The election process leading up to Saturday was marked by drama, protests, and gunfire, creating a chaotic atmosphere on polling day.
