Jurgen Klopp Gets New Job

Jurgen Klopp has secured a new role in football, cutting short his sabbatical to start work in January 2025.

After nine successful years with Liverpool, the German coach will step into a strategic position as the Global Head of Soccer for Red Bull.

Klopp, who has been enjoying a break since leaving Liverpool, had kept a low profile, making appearances at events like Borussia Dortmund’s testimonial match for Lukasz Piszczek and Jakub Blaszczykowski in September, and attending the Paralympics in Paris.

He was linked with prominent roles, including managing the United States Men’s National Team, England, and Germany, but has now committed to a long-term position with Red Bull.

As Global Head of Soccer, Klopp will oversee the development of clubs within the Red Bull network, including RB Leipzig, RB Salzburg, and New York Red Bulls.

His role will involve shaping the playing philosophy and leveraging his scouting connections to identify top coaches and emerging talent.

Klopp’s contract, which runs until the 2026 World Cup, includes an exit clause allowing him to pursue other opportunities, notably the Germany national team.

This move could open the door for Klopp to become head coach of Germany after the 2026 tournament, should Julian Nagelsmann vacate the position.

The Red Bull organization, led by Oliver Mintzlaff, the CEO of Corporate Projects and Investments, headhunted Klopp for this key role, hoping he will bring his renowned expertise to elevate the Red Bull footballing philosophy.
