Former Member Of House Of Representatives Dies In Abuja

Ahman Patigi, a former member of the House of Representatives, has passed away at the age of 59.

He represented the Edu/Moro/Patigi Federal Constituency of Kwara State in the 6th, 7th, and 8th Assemblies.

Mr. Patigi died on Thursday at the National Hospital in Abuja, following an undisclosed illness.

In the 8th Assembly, he chaired the House Committee on Water Resources. He was unable to secure re-election in 2019 amid the “O to ge” political movement in Kwara State.

Mr. Patigi was also the founder of Ahman Patigi University in the Patigi Local Government Area.

Kwara State Governor AbdulRahman AbdulRazaq expressed his shock at the news, stating that Mr. Patigi’s passing leaves a significant void in the state.

The governor highlighted the former lawmaker’s contributions to human capital development and poverty alleviation.

“Hon. Patigi will be remembered for his numerous investments that uplifted different people, including those he facilitated as a lawmaker and those he helped as a community leader, such as through the Ahman Patigi University (APU),” the governor said.

Mr. Patigi’s death follows that of another 8th Assembly member, Rafiu Ibrahim, who passed away in April.
