U-17WWC: Nigeria Vs USA Full Time Match Report

The Flamingos have been eliminated from the U-17 Women’s World Cup after a 0-2 loss to the US in the quarter-finals on Saturday.

Nigeria had a strong start to the tournament, winning all three matches in Group A and scoring nine goals to advance to the last eight. However, against the US in Santiago, they appeared sluggish and struggled to pose a threat.

Top scorer Moshood Shakirat further complicated matters when her tackle on Jocelyn Travers resulted in a penalty after a lengthy video review.

Kennedy Fuller converted the spot kick just two minutes before halftime, giving the Americans the lead.

In the second half, Nigeria failed to equalize and soon conceded another goal.

As the match progressed with few chances for either team, Kimmi Ascanio capped off a well-executed counter-attack in the 74th minute, securing the US a spot in the semi-finals.

This marks the US’s first semi-final appearance in the tournament since its inaugural edition in 2008.
