National Judicial Council Speaks On Alleged Death Of Justices Mistura Bolaji-Yusuf, Boloukuoromo Moses Ugo Who Affirmed Tinubu’s Election As Nigerian President

The National Judicial Council (NJC) has dismissed a viral claim that two judges who upheld Bola Tinubu’s 2023 presidential election victory died under mysterious circumstances.

The unfounded report falsely suggested that Justices Mistura Bolaji-Yusuf and Boloukuoromo Moses Ugo passed away on the same day without any known medical cause.

The two judges were part of the panel at Abuja’s Presidential Election Petition Court, which validated Tinubu’s 2023 election win. The panel also included Justices Haruna Simon Tsammani, Stephen Adah, and Abba Mohammed.

The report claimed: “Justice Mistura Bolaji-Yusuf, one of the five judges who presided over the electoral case, was confirmed dead by her family earlier today. According to family members, she was in good health the previous night before going to bed. However, when they attempted to wake her the following morning, she was unresponsive. The cause of her death remains unknown at this time.

“In a separate but equally troubling incident, Justice Boloukuoromo Moses Ugo was also found dead following a loud noise from his room around 2 a.m. Family members reportedly broke down his door after hearing the disturbance and discovered him bleeding and unresponsive.”

The NJC Secretary, Ahmed Gambo Saleh, has refuted the online report, calling it entirely false. He assured the public that the judges are alive, in good health, and continue to perform their duties without any issues.

“It is a lie, they are alive and well and doing their jobs,” Mr Ahmed said.

Additionally, a source within the council confirmed that they spoke with Justice Mistura Bolaji-Yusuf on Monday.

“I called her on Monday afternoon and she answered. We spoke briefly,” the source said.
