How Okpebholo Was Sworn In As Edo Governor Without His Wife Present

On Tuesday, Vice President Kashim Shettima led the federal government delegation to attend the inauguration of Monday Okpebholo as the fifth democratically elected governor of Edo State.

The event was also attended by several governors from the All Progressives Congress (APC), including Babajide Sanwo-Olu of Lagos, Dapo Abiodun of Ogun, Hope Uzodinma of Imo, and Ahmad Aliyu of Sokoto, among others.

The National Chairman of the APC, Umar Ganduje, along with his predecessor and Edo Senator Adams Oshiomhole, were also present at the ceremony, held at the Samuel Ogbemudia Stadium in Benin.

Amid tight security and a large crowd, Okpebholo, accompanied by his two daughters, took the oath of office and allegiance at 1:00 p.m., administered by Edo State Chief Judge, Daniel Okungbowa.

Earlier, Dennis Idahosa, accompanied by his wife, took the oath of office as the state’s deputy governor.

Following the oath-taking, Governor Okpebholo inspected a guard of honor and a parade by officers of the Nigeria Police.
