Senior Advocate of Nigeria, Femi Falana, has called on the Federal Government to ensure the immediate reinstatement of Comrade Tajudeen Baruwa as President of the National Union of Road Transport Workers (NURTW).
Falana specifically urged the Attorney General of the Federation and Minister of Justice, Lateef Fagbemi, and the Inspector-General of Police, Kayode Egbetokun, to enforce the rulings of the National Industrial Court and the Court of Appeal, which have upheld Baruwa’s position.
In a press statement released to the media, Falana recounted the events of August 2023, when armed thugs reportedly stormed the NURTW National Secretariat, killing security personnel, taking control of the building, and forcibly removing Baruwa from office.
He pointed out that following legal challenges to the unlawful seizure, the courts have now affirmed and recognized Comrade Baruwa as the legitimate President of the union.
